Neptune is the farthest planet from the Sun (assuming we don’t include Pluto which was demoted in 2006). Although smaller and a charming shade of blue, it is similar to Jupiter. It too is a gas giant with striated atmospheric systems that create alternating bands. It too has gigantic storms that create the ‘great spots’. But here the winds are much, much faster. Some wind speeds are as high as 2,100km/h – Almost twice the speed of sound!
