A fiery silk ribbon, or as they're known a twilly. The swirling orange-red, and lilac print is inspired by the Thames, which flows right outside the Furious Goose showroom. Our mighty river is eternal yet forever changing and we explore this in the letters 'Change Always' or 'Always Change' that nestles amongst the waves.

For the Thames Ribbon Twilly Scarves we have used our flowing and curvaceous Thames No. 1 pattern to create a symmetrical design. You'll notice letters scattered throughout the design. These are inspired by the story of the lost typeface of the Thames which is something of a legend among the riverine people of London. Designer TJ Cobden-Sanderson threw all the letters of his beautiful typeface 'Dove' into the waters in a period of madness after his business ran into difficulties. It lay hidden for nearly 100 years before being rediscovered by Robert Green, a graphic designer and typographer. He cleverly recreated it digitally and that is the typeface we use on these exquisite silks. Read more about this fascinating story here.

The Thames collection is inspired by the great river that ebbs and flows outside the Furious Goose showroom here in London. It will be a meandering collection with various tributaries of inspiration flowing together into a body of work – a bit like the river itself.

Here we play with warm colours despite the orange and lilac being kind of opposites. The orange is high saturation and then we have a delightful interplay of other warm hues where the saturation is much lower. It creates a balance that delights the eye.

International Delivery
