Introducing our pimped Paisley 'woolly scarf' in wintery silver and snow white, featuring Michelangelo's David in glorious merino and cashmere.

A Paisley pattern usually features flowers, foliage and sometimes the occasional animal. In a unique Furious Goose culture clash, we've placed humanity at the centre of the leaf shaped boteh in the form of a classical nude.

Ever since we saw digital knitting when we were at Central St Martins we've been dying to apply some of Furious Goose's uniquely bold designs to this medium. And this is the first piece to come off the machine. We love the way the design is pixelated by the nature of knit. And we're obsessed by the correlation between the digital jacquard machine and modern computers. Without weaving in the industrial revolution we'd not have modern computers.

The Paisley print has its origins in Persia and Kashmir, known for their rich textile traditions. It features a stylised floral motif known as the boteh that represents the abundance of nature. The shawls and scarves that featured this woven pattern became insanely popular in the 18th and 19th centuries.

With the advent of the industrial textile revolution the design was "borrowed" and brought to the United Kingdom and manufactured in Paisley, Scotland. Local weavers and manufacturers replicated the designs and, using the new technologies available to them, added colour and detail, giving rise to its association with the town.

In the 1960s, the Paisley print took on a new significance as it became a symbol of the counterculture and the sexual revolution. Embraced by musicians and fashion icons, it represented rebellion and gender fluidity.

In our latest collection, we've introduced a unique twist. By incorporating classical nude sculptures into the Paisley pattern, we aim to challenge the traditional boundaries that separate mankind from nature.

Placing the human figure within the traditional motifs represents the fundamental connection between humanity and the natural world. We are, after all, and for better or for worse, part of intricate tapestry of nature.

The silvery blue is cool and snowy but the off white is slightly warm. The two combine into a beautiful fresh and wintery colourway.

Testimonials

Love the bright, beautiful patterns with the added bonus of being British made. Bought a pocket square previously and then a tie for male relatives. Very impressed with how quickly the items were packaged and despatched. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something a bit different.

I recently buy a pocket square from the collection "Enchanted Forest". Both materials and design are absolutely outstanding. The silk is soft and heavy-enough to give a nice drape. Colours are brilliant, and the printing of the design was fantastically executed in both sides of the piece. Fully recommended!
